EXPLORING THE SIGNIFICANT ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY PLAYS IN ENABLING INNOVATIVE AND EFFECTIVE EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES IN LEARNING INSTITUTIONS USING ADEYEMI FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

ABSTRACT This study investigated the significant role technology plays in enabling innovative and effective educational practices in learning institutions using Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo as a Case Study. The study will employed descriptive survey research design. The purpose of the study is to examine technological means and applications available to increase the quality of education in learning institutions, to study the need for technologies in education practices, to find out the importance of technologies in education and identify the role of digital technologies applications in education; to identify the significant challenges of technologies for effective educational practices in learning institutions. One hundred (100) students formed the sample for this study, well-structured questionnaire were used to get information for the study. Four research questions were formulated to guide this study. There are technological means and applications available to increase the quality of education and students outcome in learning institutions. The study revealed that there is need for technologies applications in educational practices because teachers who are less fluent with Technology maintain a feeling of control in the classroom and with the use technology applications throughout the curriculum, teachers achieve effective use of computers in teaching and learning.Also, the study revealed that the importance of technologies in education and the role of technologies applications in education are increase student interest in studying and most students feel attracted and more concentrated when modern Technology are being used in teaching/learning and the use of modern Technology can improve students’ performance. Furthermore, the study revealed that significant challenges of technologies for innovative and effective educational practices in learning institutions are poor skills for operating technological device. It was recommended that school management should provide appropriate training for all lecturers to use modern technology applications for effective educational practices and adopt complete electronic curriculum projects for effective educational practices.
