DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PAST QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS REPOSITORY SYSTEM
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project focuses on the design and implementation of a web-based Past Questions and Answers Repository System for the Computer Science Department of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria. The system addresses critical challenges associated with the manual handling of past examination materials, such as limited access, physical damage, and inefficient retrieval. Developed using a structured software engineering approach, the system employs PHP for server-side logic, MySQL for database management, and HTML/CSS/JavaScript for the user interface. Key features include secure user authentication, role-based access control for students and administrators, advanced search functionality (filtering by course code, year, and semester), and efficient upload/download mechanisms for academic materials. The system ensures data integrity and security through implemented protocols. Testing confirmed the system's functionality, usability, and reliability in providing a centralized, digital platform for managing past questions. The project concludes that the implemented repository system significantly improves accessibility, organization, and management of academic resources, thereby enhancing student preparation and departmental efficiency. Recommendations include implementing regular data backups, expanding the system to other departments, developing a mobile application, and incorporating a user feedback module for continuous improvement.
