EFFECTS OF NUTRITION EDUCATION ON EATING HABITS AMONG ADOLESCENTS IN IJEBU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OGUN STATE
Abstract
The study examined the effects of nutrition education on eating habits among adolescents in Ijebu Local Government Area of Ogun state. The study adopted the descriptive survey research designs using simple random sampling techniques in selecting three hundred (300) respondents in Ijebu Local Government Area of Ogun State. Six (6) research questions and hypotheses were raised for the study. Frequency counts and Simple percentage was used to analyze the demographic information of the respondents while Chi-Square was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Base on this research it was discovered that weight management, behavioral change, chronic diseases prevention, self-efficacy, food portion control and reduction in health risks were significantly effect of nutrition education on eating habits of adolescents in Ijebu ode Local Government Area of ogun state. This study recommended that cchool should integrate nutrition education into health classes, teaching students about balanced diets, portion control, and how food choices impact their health and also government should launch public awareness campaigns focusing on the importance of portion control, healthy eating, and chronic disease prevention to reach adolescents and their families.
