ASSESSMENT OF SOME HEAVY METAL IN WATERMELON SOURCE FROM KONDUGA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF BORNO STATE NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
The concentration of heavy metal in watermelon was determined by using AAS, the sample were prepared using standard procedure the mean concentration of 0.013mg/kg Arsenic (as) ,0.015mgl/kg cadmium (cd) ,0.012mg/kg lead (pb) ,0.018 mg/kg Chromium (cr) ,0.021mg/kg nickel (no),0.001mg/kg magnesium (mg) ,0.010mg/kg Cobalt (co) , 0.016 mg/kg Copper (cu) ,0.004 mg/kg zinc (zn) , and 0.015 mg /kg iron (fe) . the highest concentration value has the mean value of 0.021 mg/kg in the watermelon sample was detected in nickel 0.021 mg/kg, while the lowest concentration value is 0.001 mg/ kg was observed in magnesium (mg) , whole health organization (WHO) and food and agriculture organization (FAO) standard value
