EFFECT OF NK FERTILIZER APPLICATION ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF MILLET (PENNISTUM GLAUCUM) IN MAIDUGURI, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
Millet is a vital cereal crop that provides sustenance for millions of people worldwide. However, its growth: and yield are often limited by nutrient deficiencies. This study investigated the effect of NPK fertilizer application on the growth and yield of millet. The experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with four levels of NK fertilizer (0, 3,and 3,and g/ha). The results showed that NPK fertilizer application significantly improved millet growth parameters, including plant height, leaf area, and dry matter accumulation. Additionally, NK fertilizer application increased millet grain yield by up to 45% compared to the control treatment. The optimal rate of NPK fertilizer application for maximum millet yield was found to be gaTese findings suggest that fertilizer application is crucial
