EXPLORING THE AVAILABILITY AND USAGE OF COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR INSCTRUTION BY PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN IJEBU-ODE

ABSTRACT This study investigates the integration of computer systems into primary school instruction in Ijebu Ode, Nigeria, exploring the accessibility and effectiveness of such technology. The research addresses the availability and utilization of computer equipment for instructional purposes, with specific objectives focusing on the challenges faced by primary schoolteachers and pupils in the adoption of computer-based learning. Findings indicate reservations among teachers regarding the adequacy of computer resources, accessibility, and training, highlighting a perceived shortage and limited accessibility of essential technological tools. The study also reveals a mixed picture regarding the regular integration of computer systems, with consistent disagreement on aspects like software lise, access to computers for interactive learning, and multimedia incorporation. Challenges faced by teachers encompass inadequate training, technical issues, limited access to educational software, and power supply problems, emphasizing the need for comprehensive teacher training programs and improved technological infrastructure. Pupil challenges, including technical difficulties and limited access, underscore the importance of addressing barriers to ensure effective computer-assisted learning. In conclusion, the study provides valuable insights into the current state of computer usage in primary schools, offering recommendations to enhance teacher training, technical infrastructure, and overall educational processes in the digital age.
