DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A MOBILE DUAL POWERED GRILLING MACHINE (CHARCOAL AND ELECTRIC WITH FLIPPING MECHANISM)
Abstract
his project presents the design and fabrication of a mobile dual powered grilling
machine that combines electricity and charcoal as heat sources. Conventional charcoal
grills are popular for their smoky flavor but have limitations such as excessive smoke,
uneven heating, and outdoor-only use. Conversely, electric grills are cleaner and easier
to use but lack portability and traditional flavor.
The dual-powered grill was designed to overcome these challenges by integrating
charcoal and electric heating systems in one unit, supported by a mobile frame for easy
movement. The fabrication process involved material selection, cutting, welding,
grinding, and assembly, followed by testing for performance parameters such as heating
rate, uniform cooking, safety, fuel/electricity consumption, and usability.
Results showed that the machine achieved its design objectives, offering versatility,
safety, and cost-effectiveness. Recommendations for improvement include automation of
the flipping system, digital temperature control, better insulation, and renewable energy
integration.
The project demonstrates how multidisciplinary engineering concepts can be applied to
develop practical, affordable, and sustainable household technologies.
