DETERMINATION OF PAW PAW LEAVES (CARICA PAPAYA) AS POTENTIAL FOLKLORE MEDICINAL PLANT IN SEMI-ARID REGION
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The objectives of the present investigation was to study the pawpaw leaves as medicine, Carica papaya belonging to the family Caricaceae, growing in semi-arid region. The leaves of C. papaya were subjected to energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence and were analyzed for different mineral composition. As the X-ray is one of the most reliable and accurate, as well as also a consistent and non-destructive method for analysis of major and trace element using a single pressed pellet. During the study it was found that oxygen, calcium, magnesium and potassium were noted in higher amount compared to other element.
