THE IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN NIGERIA: A STUDY OF MICHIKA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
Abstract
This project titled “The Impact of Globalization on Public Administration in Nigeria: A Study of Michika Local Government Area”. The objectives is to; examine how globalization affects delivery of public services in Michika local government area and investigate the effects of globalization on the role and functions of public administrators in Michika local government area. For this study design and methodology is based on quantitative descriptive survey. The target population of this study were 232,400 and sample size was 399 which was drawn using Taro Yamani formula. The study used both primary and secondary sources of data, the data were sourced through the use of questionnaires. In this research, simple percentage were employed to compute the questionnaires and chi-square was used to test the hypothesis.
The research found out that; globalization affects delivery of public services in Michika local government area especially security, health, transportation and educational services and globalization influenced the strategies employed by public administrators in Michika local government area to respond to the challenges and opportunities of globalization. Therefore, the research conclude and recommends that; government should enhance delivery of public services especially in the area of security, health, transportation and educational services for citizens to feel the advantages of globalization and government should promote Local Entrepreneurship by implement policies and initiatives that support local entrepreneurship, protecting and promoting local industries and fostering economic growth and job creation.
