Abstract

The effect of the adsorbent dosage on the adsorption of Cd2+ was carried out with the adsorbent dosage of 1.0 -3.0g of the sample. The result as shown in figure 1 reveals that the adsorption efficiency increased with increase in adsorbent dosage from 1.0g to 3.0g up to a percentage removal of 65% and remain constant upon further increase of the AC dose. However, after the adsorbent dosage of 3.0 g, the adsorption efficiency did not increase significantly indicating the saturation of the adsorption sites. Thus, at a higher dosage, there is limited availability of adsorbing species for the relatively larger number of surface site or surface area on the adsorbent.
