Abstract

This project investigates the potential of flavonoids as inhibitors of key HIV enzymes, particularly HIV-1 integrase and reverse transcriptase, which are essential for the virus's replication and integration into the host genome. Through computational and experimental analysis, several flavonoids, including Naringenin, Apigenin, and Taxifolin, were assessed for their biological activity. The results revealed that these compounds exhibit varying degrees of inhibitory activity, with some showing significant potential to interfere with the HIV lifecycle. The study underscores the importance of natural compounds in the development of novel therapeutic strategies against HIV/AIDS. The findings suggest that flavonoids could complement existing antiretroviral therapies, providing a natural, potentially less toxic option for managing HIV-associated complications. This research contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of plant-derived compounds in the fight against HIV, paving the way for further studies and eventual clinical application.
