Abstract

ABSTRACT The Research project focused on the incident and prevalence of Malnutrition among children in public primary school in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Borno State. Three (3) research objectives were formulated and three (3) research question were raised in order to achieve the set out goals. The literature were reviewed on the concept of malnutrition, the incident of malnutrition, the prevalence of malnutrition and the factors affecting malnutrition among children in public primary school in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council Borno State. And the summary of the related literature. Survey research design was used to obtain data, and the instrument used was weighing scale, the study of the area comprised the inhabitant of G.R.A primary school, Mafoni liberty Primary school, Wulari primary school, Kusheri primary school, Shehu garbai primary school, nur alkali memorial primary school, army 1 primary school Bukumkutu primary school, wulari 1 primary school, Borno special school Maiduguri, federal low-cost primary school, maduganari primary school, state low-cost primary school, Gwange 1 primary school, 777 model primary school, mala kachalla primary school Lamisula primary school, Umarari Primary school, Yerwa primary school, Gamboru 1 primary school, Wulari ii primary school, Kerikasama primary school, Gamboru Alajiri primary school, Budum primary school, yerwa Special primary school Maiduguri metropolitan council. Out of which sample of 250 pupis were drown in order to represent entire pupils listed above. The method used for the data analysis was percentage and frequency counts. Based on the findings on the data analysis reveals that the incidence and prevalence of malnutrition in pupils of Shehu Garbai Primary school, Nur Alkali Memorial School, Army 1 Primary School, Bulumkutu primary school, and Wulari 1 primary school was high…… it was recommending that the local government should introduce a school feeding program at least one meal a day to help in providing and replenish children from suffering malnutrition intervention should be carry out by multi-national bodies (NGOs) such as save the children, Action against Hunger through the provision of food supplements, drugs and provision of safe drinking water in the school premises.
