ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS ON POVERTY REDUCTION IN ADAMAWA STATE 2015-2025

Sustainable development objectives are an important approach that points toward eradicating poverty in its entirety by 2030. Despite continuous progress, 70% of the Nigerian and Adamawa state is still impoverished and struggles to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, health, education, and access to water and sanitation. The main focus of the work is an Assessing the impact of Sustainable Development Goals on Poverty Reduction in Adamawa State. The study utilized survey design method to generate data. The data used were primary data obtained through structured questionnaires. A total of 384 questionnaires were administered through purposive sampling technique and only 365 questionnaires were returned in useful form for the analysis. It applied descriptive statistics, frequency distribution tables and also chi square was used to test the hypotheses. The results revealed that, that all the variables studied have positive effects on poverty reduction in Adamawa state within the period of study. Therefore, the study recommended that, the state should increase the level of farmers’ empowerment schemes such as providing soft loans, fertilizers, extension services, agricultural facilities, hybrid seeds and storage facilities for rural dwellers in the state and SDGs should provide more socio-economic facilities and services for the beneficiaries in the state.
