OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS AND HEALTH PROBLEMS OF AUTOMOBILE MECHANICS IN BODE SAADU, MORO LGA. KWARA STATE
Abstract
Background: The automobile service industry has a large volume of workers involved in numerous activities which pose them to constant risk of exposure to physical, biological and chemical agents hazardous to their health. These individuals are often at risk of preventable workshop accidents and injuries.
Objective: This study aims to assess the occupational hazards and health problems of automobile mechanics in Bode Sa’adu, Moro LGA, Kwara State.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was employed and data was gathered using structured interviews and survey questionnaires administered to 253 automobile mechanics selected through multistage sampling.
