DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF AUTOMATED ATTENDANCE TRACKING DEVICE IN FEDERAL UNIVESITY OF TECHNOLOGY MINNA NIGER STATE
Abstract
This study aim at design and evaluation of automated attendance tracking device in federal university of technology Minna, Niger. R&D research design was used for this study The population of the study comprised of all student in school of science and technology education (SSTE) in federal university of technology Minna, Niger State, the sample consisted of one hundred and ten (110) student from 3001 and 2001 educational rechnology students drawn randomly from the population. Three research question and one Null hypotheses guided the study. The instruments that was used in this study for data collection was automated attendance effectiveness achievement test (AAET) design on the design automated attendance. The AAET was made up of (10) questions in other to assess the effectiveness of the automated attendance device after the implementation.
The
instrument was validated by two senior lecturers from educational technology and one senior lecturer from computer science in Federal University Technology Minna, Niger State, Statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 23's descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation (SD) was used to respond to the research questions, and the influencing statistics of the t-test was utilized to test the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance. Mean and standard deviation was used for research question while inferential statistic of t-fest was used for research hypotheses. A decision rule was set in which mean score of 2.5 and above was considered agreed while a mean score below 2.5 was considered disagreed. From the data collected and analyzed, it is notably clear automated attendance tracking device consistently had higher attendance rates than the manual methods. Base on the findings. Schools should develop and implement comprehensive plans to integrate automated attendance tracking sustems across all departments. This ensures a standardized approach and maximizes the benefits of improved attendance monitoring.
