Abstract

Abstract Dumpsite have been known to generate Environmental Problem in developing Countries due to its improper managing Strategies. Heavy metals from soil in the Landfill can percolate during rainfall which can impact water table and cause health problem to the water user therefore, this study assesses heavy metal contamination in soil and water samples collected from areas adjacent to a dumpsite in Saki West Local Government Area, Nigeria. Soil and water samples were collected and examined by using Standard methods, these findings indicate a concerning correlation between soil contamination and water quality, highlighting the potential risks posed to local ecosystems and human health. The study underscores the need for regular monitoring and effective remediation strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of heavy metal contamination. Recommendations include strengthening policy enforcement, increasing public awareness, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to address the challenges posed by heavy metal pollution. This research contributes to the understanding of heavy metal dynamics in contaminated sites and serves as a basis for future environmental management practices in the region.
