AN EXAMINATION OF TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN ATIBA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OYO STATE
Abstract
This research work was carried out, Examining the Traditional Institutions and Conflict Resolution in Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State. The method used in this research is descriptive method; however random sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 50 respondents from various communities within Atiba LGA of Oyo State. The result collected was analyzed with simple percentages. However, the result revealed that traditional institutions in Atiba Local Government are generally seen as active and vital in conflict resolution, with most community members recognizing and understanding their roles .Based on this recommendations were made; there is need to organize workshops and training sessions to enhance the skills of traditional leaders in conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation, there is need to document and standardize traditional conflict resolution practices to ensure they are preserved and consistently applied.
