INFLUENCE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ON ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ONDO STATE.

This study investigates the influence of extracurricular activities on the academic performance of secondary school students in Ondo State. Extracurricular activities encompass a wide array of non-academic pursuits, including sports, arts, clubs, and volunteer work, which students engage in outside regular classroom instruction. The significance of extracurricular activities in shaping the holistic development of students has long been acknowledged, yet their impact on academic performance remains a subject of debate. The study employs quantitative methodology to comprehensively explore the relationship between extracurricular involvement and academic achievement. Quantitative data is collected through surveys distributed among a representative sample of secondary school students in Ondo State, measuring their participation in extracurricular activities and academic performance metrics. The study's findings have implications for educators, policymakers, and parents in Ondo State, highlighting the importance of fostering a supportive environment that encourages students' participation in extracurricular activities while maintaining a focus on academic excellence. By promoting a holistic approach to education that recognizes the complementary nature of extracurricular pursuits and academic achievement, schools can better equip students with the skills and experiences necessary for success in both their academic endeavors and future endeavors beyond the classroom.
