Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was carried out to ascertain the Antimicrobial Activities of Methanolic and Ethyl Acetate Leaf Extracts of Annona Muricata, Thaumatococcus Danielli and Corchorus Olitorius. This was carried out in the laboratory at Ahiaeke, Umuahia, Abia State. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replicates to investigate the Antimicrobial composition and antimicrobial potential the leaf extract of Annona muricata, Thaumatococcus Danielli and Corchorus Olitorius. 100g of the sample was extracted with 500ml of the solvent and the extract heated over a water -bath to dryness. 10g of dried extracts was dissolved in 100ml of the organic solvent to get 100ml concentration of the plant extracts. Four bacteria inoculums were diluted from the stock to get 10-7(CFU). The Antimicrobial analysis showed that Annona muricata, Thaumatococcus Danielli and Corchorus Olitorius had the potential to inhibit the growth of pseudomonas and penicillium. The minimum inhibitory concentration further proved the efficacy of these leaf extracts since they inhibited pseudomonas and penicillium at low concentration. Although, the research investigated the antimicrobial potentials of the leaf extract of Annona muricata, Thaumatococcus Danielli and Corchorus Olitorius. The results of anti-bacteria activity of ethylacetate and methanol extracts on bacterial isolates showed that they had the bored spectrum of activity on the test bacteria. From the table of the highest zone of inhabitation was recorded in sample AM, ranging from 19.78±5.68cm on pseudomonas and 25.05±6.83 on penicillium. Effect of difference in plant species was significant (p
