Abstract

The main aim of this research work is the contribution of poverty alleviation measures to the development of rural areas, in particular N- Power Uyo, Akwa-ibom State, Nigeria. The research work made use of primary and secondary obtained from the research questionnaires and interview. This interview to the respondent through personal contact in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa-ibom state. Sample pervcentage was used for the purpose of analysis. The research made use of chi- square method to examine the poverty alleviation measures and Nigeria economic development. The population of the study is 100, but 80 sample size was achieved by Taro Yemeni formula. One of the objectives of this study was to assess formulated policies and strategies for the reduction of poverty in Akwa-Ibom State. This project will be of immense benefit to government as it will award them an opportunity to evaluate policy and measures for the poverty alleviation in Akwa-ibom State.
