IMPACT OF FIELD TRIP METHOD ON STUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCES AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL BIOLOGY STUDENTS OF TARAUNI EDUCATIONAL ZONE, KANO STATE.

This study was undertaken to investigate the “impact of field trip method on student’s academic performance among senior secondary schools biology students of tarauni Education zone, Kano state”. The study had three objectives, with three research questions that guided the study. One null hypothesis was formulated and tested as 0.05 level of significance. Related literature was reviewed. Quasi-Experimental research design was employed for the study. The population of the study was five thousand and four- thousand (5,400) SSII Biology student and the sample size was 357 respondents. Systematic sampling and simple random sampling techniques were used in drawing the sample size with aid the of Research advisors (2006) table. The data were collected by using The Biology Achievement Test (B A T). Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and mean scores were used to analyze demographic variables and answer research questions. Independent t-test was used to test the stated null hypothesis, the null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings among others revealed that students exposed to field trip teaching method achieved significantly higher than the students who were taught by conventional teaching method The study makes some recommendations teachers should adopt the use of field trip method teaching of Biology concept more than conventional teaching method.
