Abstract
ABSTRACT
The objectives of the study is to investigated the provenance and paleoclimate conditions of the sandstone facies of the Kerri-Kerri Formation, which forms part of the Gongola Sub-Basin in the Northern Benue Trough, Nigeria. The research involved stratigraphic, sedimentological, geochemical, and mineralogical analyses to determine the depositional environment, source rock composition, and paleoclimatic conditions.The findings indicate that the sandstones exhibit well-developed textural and compositional maturity, reflecting prolonged transport and reworking. Geochemical and mineralogical results suggest a dominantly felsic source, with evidence of weathering under humid climatic conditions.
