IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ON QUANTITY SURVEYING PRACTICE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IN ONDO STATE

The quantity surveying role within the construction industry has been around for many years and like most professions had to change with the times, Impact of digital technology on the quantity surveying practice ,Barriers to digital technology on quantity surveying practices and Strategy to mitigate the potential critical risk on the achievement of construction projec. This study collected data through the use of structured questionnaire that were administered to registered professionals in Ondo State. The target population comprises of Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Builders, and Engineers. Seventy one 71 questionnaires were administered; Sixty two 62 questionnaires were retrieved from professionals. The data retrieved were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Mean score response analysis, frequency and percentages. The study concluded that the three major improve the project’s clarity, improved accuracy of cost estimates and improve communications between the stakeholders, the study concluded that the three major barriers to digital technology on the quantity surveying practice are inadequate training and education in the use of digital tools, inadequate/erratic power supply and incur high initial cost and study concluded that the three major strategies to improve the digital technology on quantity surveying practices are government provides financial support, changing top managerial negative perceptions on digitalization and government provides guidelines for technology adoption.
