EFFECT OF AQUEOUS MAHOGANY (KHAYA SENEGALENSIS) BARK EXTRACT ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE, CARCASS CHARACTERISTICS AND ORGAN WEIGHT OF BROILER CHICKEN IN SEMI-ARID REGION
Abstract
This study was conducted for eight (8) weeks to investigate the effect of aqueous Mahogany bark extract (AMBE) on growth performance, carcass characteristics and organ weight of broiler chickens. Two hundred (200) day-old Arbor Acre broiler chicks (mixed sex) were randomly assigned into five (5) treatments with four (4) replicates in each treatment containing 10 birds per replicate in a completely randomized design (CRD). Four litres of drinking water were separately mixed with aqueous mahogany bark extract, which were added at 0.00, 12.50, 25.00, 37.50 and 50.00 ml/L in drinking water designated as T1 (control), T2, T3, T4 and T5 respectively.
