Abstract

This study examines the influence of relationship management on sales enhancement in the Nigerian banking sector, with specific reference to Access Bank Bida. The research was motivated by the increasing need for financial institutions to adopt customer-centered strategies that build loyalty, improve satisfaction, and drive sales performance in a highly competitive market. Despite the widespread use of relationship management in Nigerian banks, its direct impact on sales outcomes has not been adequately explored at the branch level. The study employed a descriptive survey design, utilizing structured questionnaires administered to both bank staff and customers. Quantitative analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between customer relationship management (CRM) practices such as personalized communication, complaint handling, and loyalty programs and sales enhancement. The findings revealed that effective relationship management significantly improves customer satisfaction, retention, and trust, which in turn enhances sales performance and strengthens the bank’s public image. Furthermore, the study established that satisfied and loyal customers are more likely to recommend Access Bank’s services, thereby fostering customer acquisition and sustained business growth. The research concluded that relationship management is a key determinant of sales performance and long-term competitiveness in the banking sector. It recommended that Access Bank should strengthen its customer engagement mechanisms, enhance responsiveness to customer feedback, and expand loyalty programs to sustain customer satisfaction and drive future growth. Continuous staff training and the integration of innovative CRM technologies were also suggested to deepen customer relationships and improve operational efficiency.
