Abstract

This study examined the environmental pollution and its associated health risk in Ondo West Local Government Area. Environmental pollution poses a widespread issue with significant implications for the well-being of individuals and populations worldwide. Environmental pollution poses a widespread issue with significant implications for the well-being of individuals and populations worldwide. The escalating utilization of fossil fuels, improper sewage disposal practices, and indiscriminate use of agricultural pesticides contribute to the pervasive presence of environmental pollution across the globe. To assess the state of environmental pollution and its impact on human health on a global scale, a comprehensive review of relevant scholarly articles was undertaken. The deleterious effects of pollution manifest in elevated rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory ailments, mental disorders, and diarrhea. The sample for this study comprises of hundred and fifty (150) respondents from five selected community in Ondo West Local Government Area. The research instructment used was the researcher’s well-structured questionnaire titled environmental pollution and its associated health risk in Ondo West Local Government Area, on four likert rating scale response questioning. The major findings from the analysis of the data revealed that environmental has a great negative impact on human health across the global. Based on this findings it is recommended that Government should cooperate closely with agencies, organizations, municipalities, universities, and industries involved in environmental research so as to bring solution to minimize the effect of environmental pollution among residents. Also study recommends that environmental education should be enshrined in the school curriculum from primary to tertiary institutions to inculcate in the masses environmental friendly attitudes. Such environmental education should equally be carried out through the traditional media so as to carry along both the literate and illiterate ones in the quest for a healthy environment
