PROXIMATE, PHYTOCHEMICAL, VITAMIN C AND MINERAL COMPOSITION OF PTEROCARPUS MILDBRAEDII
Abstract
The Leaves of Pterocarpus mildbraedii Harms (Osun Ure) was analysed for proximate constituents and mineral compositions. It contained (11.18%)ash, (4.0%)moisture,(3.66% ) crude protein(35.0%), fat (30.0%), crude fibre and (13.39%) carbohydrate. Minerals like Ca(99.200), Mg(121.00), Zn(3.324), K (251.450)and Cu(0.012).The phytochemical screening of the leave sample for anti-nutrients indicates the presence of tannic acid, saponin, alkaloids, flavonoids, glycoside and terpenoid . These bioactive compounds were identified to be accountable for the therapeutic properties of P. mildbraedii.
