SKILL IMPROVEMENT NEEDS OF GOLDSMITH ARTISANS IN NIGER STATE

The research was carried out to improve the lives of goldsmiths in niger state. The study was conducted using a survey research method. Twenty (20) metalwork teachers and thirty (30) goldsmith artisans made up the sample group. As instruments for data collection, a structured questionnaire was used. Three (3) research questions and two (2) false assumptions were proposed. Mean was used to analyze the results of research interviews, while the i-test was used to test the assumptions of no significant difference at a 0.05 level of significance. It was discovered that artisans had fourteen (14) skills for effective goldsmithing in Niger state, five (5) and support of my supervisor in person of Prof. A. Therefore, a recommendation was made that the federal government make an effort to provide enough in-service training opportunities for goldsmith technology teachers. In-service technical training courses, post-graduate courses, seminars, conferences, and any other types of training should be offered to woodwork teachers in technical colleges, as part of a multi-day program. in-service courses, interdisciplinary courses, and conferences should be offered to goldsmith technology teachers in technical colleges.This will enable them to participate actively in the goldsmith workshop and seminars on practical aspects of practical projects, which will be relevant to students' psychomotor skills development among others.
