ROLE OF DIGITAL FILING ON EFFECTIVE RECORD MANAGEMENT IN THREE SELECTED INDUSTRIES IN KWARA STATE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the role of digital filing systems in enhancing effective record management within three selected industries in Kwara State. The research aims to identify the benefits of digital filing systems, explore the challenges organizations face in adopting and implementing these systems, and provide recommendations for improving record management practices. A survey research design was employed, using a structured questionnaire administered to the entire population of 67 employees working in administrative and record management roles across the three selected industries. The findings reveal that digital filing systems significantly improve speed, accuracy, reliability, and security in record management. However, challenges such as cost, technical support, and employee resistance hinder their full adoption. The study concludes that while digital filing systems are crucial for modern organizations, successful implementation requires balancing technological investments with staff training, infrastructure, and organizational commitment. The research recommends that organizations integrate digital filing systems into their administrative processes, explore phased implementation to manage financial constraints, and invest in regular staff training to enhance digital literacy and system usage competence.
