DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF 10 KG CAPACITY ICE BLOCK MAKING MACHINE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This report presents the fabrication, design and testing of an ice block making machine to be
constructed using components from an air conditioning (AC) outdoor unit and a condemned
freezer, integrated with 3/8" copper pipes. The objective was to develop an efficient, cost-
effective, and environmentally friendly solution for producing ice blocks, addressing the
challenges of traditional ice block making methods which are often inefficient, energy-intensive,
and environmentally detrimental.
The fabrication process will involve repurposing the compressor and condenser from an AC
outdoor unit, which will provide the necessary cooling capacity and reliability. The condemned
freezer will serve as the evaporator, where the water will be frozen into ice blocks. To ensure
efficient heat transfer and minimize thermal losses, 3/8" copper pipes will be use to replace the
corroded steel pipes within the freezer. The copper pipes were selected for their excellent thermal
conductivity, durability, and ease of installation.
