Abstract

Abstract Housing is a fundamental element of human settlement that satisfies basic needs and significantly influences the quality of life, health, welfare, and productivity of individuals. The primary function of buildings is to provide shelter, ensuring protection from environmental conditions and potential external threats. In modern societies, particularly in developing countries, governments are adopting new housing policies and strategies to address the growing demands for housing. Nigeria’s approach to public housing provision, for instance, has shifted towards market-driven, private sector-led solutions. This project focuses on designing functional and aesthetically pleasing staff quarters for the academic staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin Campus, Oyo State. The methodology employed includes a comprehensive review of relevant literature, case studies of similar projects, and data collection through questionnaires distributed among senior staff of the institution. The methodology of this research was through the aid of consulted journals, extracts from text, case studies of related structures and research through internet. The purpose of this project is to provide a well-planned housing scheme that meets the housing needs of LAUTECH's academic staff, considering the current lack of dedicated staff quarters on the new Iseyin campus.
