CONCEPTUALIZATION AND ELECTRICAL FAULT ANALYSIS IN AUTOMOBILE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The safety of automobiles and its environmental protection is increasingly dependent on the correct functioning of its electrical and electronically controlled systems. Presently, there are insufficient data about the consistency of these systems and how their faults could be perfectly rectified. This research analysis aims at addressing these issues by evaluating the frequent electrical faults of some automobile brands commonly used in Kwara state. In order to do this effectively it is important to examine data on the in-service reliability of such systems. This report looks at reliability data collected from a number of sources across Kwara state.
Electrical faults which frequently occurs in automobiles were determined by five various brands of automobiles frequently used within Kwara-state. These brands includes; Toyota, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Peugeot and Nissan. These analyses were determined through questioning and addressing various automobile workshops through Okada, Usen, Benin-Lagos and Benin City. Summary and descriptive data of maximum fault range in these automobiles were obtained for these five brands successfully. The faults in Peugeot were estimated to be
The fault analysis represented by various bar charts in chapter four, is the logical display of most failed components in various models of the selected brand of automobiles.
Most electrical faults were observed to persist more in older models of vehicles as most auto shops stated that they were not familiar with the faults in the latest models as most of these models were under guarantee by their various companies. This implies that the latest models are in a better condition due to the fact that the companies seem to focus on the faults experienced in the previous models in order to make their products more comfortable and obtainable by the public.
However, electrical faults were observed to occur less in the Toyota brand. Therefore, mean minimum fault has been observed to occur in the Toyota brand followed by the Nissan while the mean maximum occurs in the Volkswagen product. The attenuation of these faults can only cause great discomfort to these brand users and to the general public.
