Abstract
Capital structure decisions remain a critical determinant of corporate performance, particularly in highly competitive industries. This study investigates the impact of capital structure on the business performance of Dangote Flour Mill PLC, Lagos State. The research focuses on the relationship between debt-equity mix, financial leverage, and profitability, examining how financing choices influence firm growth, sustainability, and shareholder value. Both primary and secondary data were utilized, with financial statements, questionnaires, and interviews serving as key sources of information. Analytical tools such as ratio analysis and regression models were employed to evaluate the effect of capital structure on profitability indicators. Findings reveal that an optimal balance between debt and equity enhances profitability and operational efficiency, while excessive reliance on debt increases financial risk and reduces firm stability. The study concludes that effective capital structure management is essential for improving business performance and recommends that firms adopt flexible financing strategies, strengthen corporate governance, and continuously evaluate their capital mix to achieve sustainable growth.
