Abstract

An automatic changeover switch is designed primarily to disconnect load from its power source and transfer it to a standby source (generator), in case there is a power outage. The switching process is done in a controlled manner so as to prevent the false starting of generator at very short power outages. Once the supply is restored, the load is transferred back to mains supply. The entire process is controlled by a controlled unit that keeps sensing to detect whether the main supply is available or not.
