This stdy evamined the role of Emtreprencurship as a rool map lo Economic Growth
in Nigeria nsing selected small business enterprises in Uvo Local Government as a
case study. The study adopted the survey research design and a convenience
sampling technique was nsed to seleet lifty (50) respondent as sample size.
Instrument for the study was a self developed questiomaire and the forms were
personally administered.Research questions and hypotheses were formulated to
guide the study and data were analyzed using simple percentage and chisquare
(v')statistical tool. The study revealed that the contribution of entreprencurship
development are: facilitating value added in the economy, effeclive utilization of
resources that could have remain idle and use same profitably.realization of new
skills and ideas and encouraging self-reliance therehy reducing unemplovment
and rural lurban migration. while luck of funds by entrepreneurs, luck of
infrastractures, lack of adequate planning in government economic policies and
high rale of insecurity are the challenges of entrepreneurship development in
Nigeria. The extent of entrepreneurship development in Nigeria where identified
as follows: il brings about economic growth in Nigeria, it reduces poverty level, it
brings many innovation and business strategies, while the contribution o
entrepreneurship in joh creation in Nigeria were providing of necessary skills for
creation of job creation, creation ofemployment, it allow one to see opportunities
everywhere, it shows essenntial fundamental abilities to make task work. This
paper has provided useful recommendations such as:entrepreneurs should be
educated to acquire proper managerial skills and should he enlightened about the
danger involved in family members intruding into the business operations, the
government should provide and maintain adequate infrastructural facilities both
rural and urban areas to encourage entrepreneus to operate successfully and
adequate and constant power supply and good road network should be promoted
and maintained. It is believed that if these recommendations are
implemented.entrepreneurship development will contribute positively to the
development and economic growth in Nigeria.
