Abstract

This research work is focused on the development of a web-based project supervision system. It is a platform to make the supervision process convenient and timely. The system is necessary because of the problems identified in the existing system which include limited communication occasioned by the fact that Face-to-face meetings between students and supervisors can be infrequent due to scheduling time conflicts and time constraints, leading to delays in project progress. Another problem is disorganized documentation as managing project-related documents and resources through email or paper-based methods is not effective. Supervisors handling multiple students may spend significant time in repetitive tasks such as scheduling meetings and reviewing drafts manually, leading to a bottleneck in the supervision process. Given these challenges, there is a pressing need for an organized, web-based system that can streamline the entire project supervision process and enhance the overall experience for both students and supervisors. In view of the identified problems, the objectives of the research work is to develop a web based system to enhance communication between students and supervisors through a dedicated messaging system and to Provide a centralized platform for document sharing and collaboration, and to implement a system that enable supervisors to oversee multiple projects simultaneously through a dashboard that provides an overview of student progress. The design methodology used is object oriented analysis and design (OOAD). The programming technologies used are HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL.
