Abstract

The rapid advancement in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has significantly transformed professional practices across various sectors, including real estate management. Traditional estate management systems, which rely heavily on manual record keeping and conventional methods, often result in inefficiencies such as data redundancy, poor record management, slow information retrieval, and increased risk of data loss or unauthorized access. These challenges hinder effective decision-making, reduce operational efficiency, and affect the quality of services delivered to clients. This project, titled “An Electronic Estate Management System,” was developed to address these limitations by introducing a computerized system for efficient management of estate-related information. The aim of the project is to design and implement an electronic system that enhances the operations of estate managers, surveyors, and valuers by providing accurate, secure, and easily accessible property information. The system facilitates proper documentation of property records, improves the processes involved in property selling and letting, strengthens data integrity, and enhances the relationship between estate managers and clients. It also reduces manual workload and ensures secure access to information through user authentication and authorization features. The methodology adopted in this project includes fact-finding techniques such as interviews, observation of documents, and record observation to understand the operational requirements of estate management organizations. The system was developed using Visual Basic 6.0 programming language, with a top-down design approach to ensure modularity, maintainability, and efficiency. The developed Electronic Estate Management System provides a reliable, efficient, and secure platform for managing estate information. It improves operational efficiency, ensures accurate record keeping, enhances data security, and supports effective decision-making. The system is recommended for adoption by estate management firms to modernize their operations and improve service delivery in line with current technological advancements.
