Abstract

This study investigates the impact of multimedia on the teaching and learning of Chemistry among secondary school students in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State. The rapid rise of digital instructional technologies has transformed the educational landscape, providing teachers with innovative tools to improve students’ understanding of abstract scientific concepts. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected from Chemistry teachers and students across selected secondary schools within the area. Findings revealed that multimedia—such as animations, simulations, videos, and interactive models—significantly enhances students’ comprehension, increases motivation, and improves classroom participation. Challenges identified include inadequate digital infrastructure, limited teacher training, and inconsistent electricity supply. The study recommends increased investment in ICT facilities, training programs for Chemistry teachers, and integration of multimedia into the school curriculum to optimize learning outcomes.
