Abstract

This research focuses on the production of biodiesel from soybean oil using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as a catalyst. Soybean oil biodiesel was produced through transesterification of soybean oil with methanol using sodium hydroxide (NaOH) as catalyst. The transesterification process using 250ml of soybean oil, 100ml methanol, 3.5g sodium hydroxide, 600C reaction temperature and 90 minutes reaction time yielded 95% soybean oil biodiesel. The density, viscosity and acid value were 0.88g/cm3, 4.5 mm2/s,
