TETRAPLEURA TETRAPTERA AND SPONDIAS MOMBINS LEAF. EXTRACTS MITIGATE LEAD-INDUCED OXIDATIVE IN THE SPLEEN OF WISTAR RATS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Tetrapleura tetraptera and Spondias mombin are two plants known for their medicinal properties. Research has shown that leaf extracts from these plants can have various effects on the spleen of Wistar rats, an important model for studying human physiology and disease. Tetrapleura tetraptera, commonly known as the African locust bean, has been found to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Its leaf extract may enhance immune responses and improve the overall health of the spleen, which plays a crucial role in filtering blood and supporting the immune system.
Spondias mombin, also known as yellow mombin, is recognized for its potential in treating various ailments. Studies suggest that its leaf extract may influence spleen morphology and function, potentially enhancing the organ's ability to respond to infections and other immune challenges.
In experiments involving Wistar rats, both extracts may lead to changes in spleen weight, cellular composition, and histological structure. These changes can indicate the extracts' effectiveness in modulating immune responses and their potential therapeutic benefits. Overall, the investigation of Tetrapleura tetraptera and Spondias mombin leaf extracts in Wistar rats provides valuable insights into their medicinal properties and potential applications in enhancing immune function.
