CONSTRUCTION OF ELECTRIC TRACTION AND TRANSMISSION FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Several researchers have contributed significantly to the development of electric traction systems and their practical applications. A brief review of these existing works and their influence on this project is as follows:
Omar et al. (2018): Designed a cost-effective traction system using an Arduino-based PWM controller and 48 V DC motor. Their work demonstrated that locally sourced components can produce efficient traction drives. This influenced the choice of DC motor and PWM control strategy in this project.
Singh and Verma (2020): Presented a PWM-controlled induction motor drive system achieving 90% efficiency. Their method of MOSFET switching and load response informed the design of the control circuit in this project.
Ajayi (2021): Fabricated a locally made electric tricycle using a 48 V, 1 kW DC motor, proving the adaptability of EV systems in Nigeria. His study reinforced the use of low-cost materials for local EV development.
