Abstract

Mobile money has emerged as a significant driver of financial inclusion, particularly in developing economies. In Nigeria, increasing smartphone penetration and digital banking reforms have accelerated the adoption of mobile financial services. This study investigates the level of awareness and usage of mobile money among students in Ondo State. A descriptive survey design was employed, and structured questionnaires were administered to selected students across tertiary institutions in the state. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. Findings revealed high awareness of mobile money services but moderate usage levels. Factors influencing adoption include ease of use, transaction convenience, network reliability, security concerns, and peer influence. The study concludes that although awareness is widespread, usage is influenced by trust, technological accessibility, and transaction costs. Recommendations include digital literacy campaigns and improved network infrastructure to enhance mobile money utilization among students.
