Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explored the effect of knowledge management practices on the performance of Flour Mills Plc, Calabar. The research specifically examines the effects of knowledge acquisition (KA) on operational efficiency, knowledge sharing (KS) on competitive advantage, knowledge creation (KC) on innovation, and knowledge transfer (KT) on profitability. The study was conducted using a descriptive survey design, with data collected from a sample of 120 respondents, selected through stratified random sampling from a population of 172 employees and management staff. Structured questionnaire was used to gathered data. Simple linear regression analysis was employed to quantify the effect of the independent variables (knowledge management practices) on dependent variable (organizational performance). The results revealed that knowledge acquisition had a significant effect on operational efficiency, as indicated by a regression coefficient of 0.48 (R² = 0.66). Knowledge sharing was found to have a moderate but significant impact on competitive advantage (R² = 0.55), while knowledge creation had an insignificant effect on innovation (R² = 0.02). Knowledge transfer, however, demonstrated a notable positive effect on profitability with an R² of 0.19.Based on these findings, it is recommended that Flour Mills Plc, Calabar, should strengthen its knowledge acquisition and sharing processes to enhance operational efficiency and competitive advantage. Additionally, the company should revisit its knowledge creation and knowledge transfer strategies to foster greater innovation and profitability. Overall, the study highlights the importance of robust knowledge management practices in driving organizational performance.
