DETERMINATION OF PERFORMANCE LEVEL OF A TELLER QUEUING SYSTEM AT ZENITH BANK PLC MINNA USING M/M/1 QUEING MODEL

Abstract

This project analyzes the performance level of the queueing system of the teller point at Zenith Bank Plc Minna branch Niger State, Nigeria using M/M/1 queuing model. The data used were collected for a period of five working days (Monday - Friday), 8 Banking hours was also considered. The results show that, the queuing system has busy time of 7.84 hours while the idle time is 0.16 hours, the result also showed that a customer spent an average of 3.24 minutes in the queue. The queueing system has 0.98% utilization factor, this implies that the server is always busy. Based on these parameters obtained from the results, there is need for an additional teller point for efficient and optimal service delivery.
