Abstract

This study investigates the effect of recruitment and selection on employee productivity within the Kano State Civil Service Commission. Using a mixed-methods approach, it analyzes how merit-based selection, transparent recruitment, and competency mapping influence staff performance. Findings indicate that rigorous, bias-free processes directly boost efficiency, while political interference and nepotism hinder productivity.
