Abstract

This project work is carried out to examine the Application of survival method for study the maternal mortality, the study carried out with the objectives to investigate the causes of maternal mortality, to investigate the rate of child mortality and to discover possible ways of reducing the maternal mortality. This research was conducted through the use of Kaplan-Meier curve method to plot the graph of the Survival data in analyzing time to event data and these methods were adopted in this thesis to examine the application of survival method for study maternal mortality in Yobe state using the R software. The result obtained by testing the method of Kaplan-Meire and fitting the Cox-proportional hazard model, as p-value is greater than the α=0.05, then we do not have efficient evidence to reject the hypothesis.
