PREPARATION AND SOME PHYSICOCHEMICAL ANALYSES OF CU(II) SCHIFF BASE DERIVED FROM SALICYALDEHYDE AND ETHYLENEDIAMINE.
Abstract
The Cu (II) Schiff base derived from condensation of salicyaldehyde and ethenediamine have been prepared and characterized using IR spectroscopy, the physicochemical properties of the complex, including its melting point, solubility and conductivity were also investigated. The results shows that melting point of the Schiff base was 1450C and decomposition temperature of the complex was 2240C, the molar conductivity measurement determined was found to be 0.06mScm-1. Revealing that the complex is non-electrolytic, IR spectra of Schiff base showed a bond at 1611cm-1, and new bonds which are C=N,C−N and Cu−O was founded at 1631cm-1, 758cm-1 and 490cm-1 respectively.
