PHYTOCHEMICALS ANALYSIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF DELONIX REGIA (DORAWAR TURAWA) LEAVES AGAINS SOME CLINICAL ISOLATES
Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the phytochemical constituents and antimicrobial activities of Delonixregia (commonly known as DorawarTurawa) leaves. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of several bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, which are known for their medicinal properties. The antimicrobial efficacy of Delonixregia leaf extracts was evaluated against a range of clinical isolates, including bacteria and fungi. The presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and phenols suggests that Delonixregia leaves could be a valuable source of bioactive compounds with several beneficial properties. The extracts were tested at several concentrations (4000 mg/ml, 2000 mg/ml, 1000 mg/ml, and 500 mg/ml), alongside controls like Ampiclox and Ketoconazole. Notably, Escherichia coli exhibited the highest inhibition zone (16mm at 4000 mg/ml) while Staphylococcus aureus showed a significant response (15mm).The profile indicates potential applications in herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, and even agricultural practices demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity, with notable inhibition zones against tested pathogens, suggesting the potential of Delonixregia as a source of natural antimicrobial agents. These findings support the traditional use of Delonixregia in folk medicine and highlight its potential for development into novel therapeutic agents.
