EVALUATION OF ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY AND TOXICITY OF XIMENIA AMERICANA LEAF EXTRACT AGAINST RESPIRATORY TRACT ISOLATES.
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) pose a significant global health challenge, contributing to substantial morbidity and mortality. The emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, complicates treatment options, highlighting the urgent need for alternative therapeutic strategies.
The investigation of the antimicrobial activity of Ximenia americana against respiratory tract isolates is a promising avenue for exploring natural antimicrobial agents. This study aims to evaluate the potential of Ximenia americana as a natural treatment option for RTIs, focusing on its efficacy against these antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains.
