Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study investigates the influence of managerial skill on secretaries’ job performance. Three research questions were raised in the study. The population for the study was 51 which comprised of secretaries in Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State. The data obtained were analyzed using arithmetic mean method and standard deviation. The reliability was determined by using Cronbach Alpha reliability index which yielded a result of 0.77. Findings from the study indicated that managerial skill impacts the secretaries’ job performance in the organisation, also, there is a significant influence of manager-secretary’s relation on the job productivity of secretaries in the organisation. It was recommended among others that the management is also advised to make use of combinations of managerial skills. Adopting only one style of leadership might frustrate the attainment of organizational goals. This practice will however, depend on the prevailing situation in the organization, also, the managers/supervisor are enjoined to sometimes delegate their power to their secretaries. This gives secretaries the impression of being recognized by their bosses. With this development, workers tend to become creative and innovative. The study concluded that leadership role is an indispensable role in every organization that needs to grow.
